1988 Ducati 750 Paso Desmo
The 750 Paso is one of those bikes that stops you in your tracks. Designed by Massimo Tamburini before he went on to create the 916, the Paso was Ducati's bold attempt at a fully-faired sports machine when it arrived in 1986, and it landed like a spaceship in a world of naked bikes. Named after Italian racing legend Renzo Paso Pasolini, these were genuinely revolutionary. And this one is the rare bit: a white Limited edition, which the vendor advises is one of approximately 100 produced in this colour. The photos back that up with the correct Italian tricolore pinstriping, red three-spoke Oscam-style wheels, Limited decals on both sides, and the Italian flag details on the Corbin seat that mark this as a genuine Limited example.
Important note for bidders: the odometer shows 37,077 but the Veglia Borletti speedometer is calibrated in miles per hour, not kilometres per hour. This is a US-specification instrument, meaning the actual recorded distance is 37,077 miles, which is approximately 59,665 kilometres. The listing description quotes this figure as kilometres, which is incorrect and needs clarifying before bidding.
Mechanically the Paso runs Ducati's 750cc Desmodromic L-twin. The 6-speed gearbox and chain drive are present. The Weber dual-throat downdraft carburettor setup is fitted as correct. The exhaust is an aftermarket aluminium slip-on silencer in clean condition, not the original Conti unit referenced in the description, but actually a sensible upgrade for breathing. The Corbin seat replaces the original Ducati item but is in good nick.
Bodywork is solid for a 37-year-old bike. Some yellowing of the white paint is unavoidable from this era, minor scuffs are present on the lower fairings, and the drilled brake discs show surface oxidation from sitting. The red anodized wheel finish has some fading on the front. The instrument lens has minor internal clouding. No crash damage, no significant dents, no visible oil leaks. VIN ZDM1DA3N6JB754097 is stamped into the steering head and visible in photos.
The Paso's moment is coming. White Limited examples with the tricolore details are first cab off the rank when collector values move, and they will. This is a solid, honest, largely original example of one of the most visually distinctive motorcycles Ducati ever built.
