1990 Crowther Catamaran - Twin Yamaha 9.9 HP Outboards

Overview

A 1990 Crowther catamaran measuring 10.8 metres in length with a 6 metre beam. The fibreglass hull is finished in white. Power is provided by twin Yamaha 9.9 HP outboard motors. The vessel is currently on hardstand at East Point, Darwin.

Hull

The hull is of fibreglass (glass reinforced plastic) construction with a twin catamaran configuration. The supplied draft is 0.4/1.5 metres. The hull plate reads AU-WWA081917F61, branded Waterways. The exterior paint and gelcoat show ageing consistent with the vessel's age, with chalking and fading visible across the topsides. The antifoul coating on both hulls below the waterline is worn and flaking, with areas of bare substrate visible. The stern transom areas of both hulls show exposed laminate and patches where gelcoat has been removed or worn away, with raw fibreglass and filler visible. The bow sections present with the white paint intact but aged. Trampoline netting is fitted between the hulls forward, with mesh panels in place. The vessel sits on concrete blocks on hardstand.

Motor

The vessel is fitted with twin Yamaha 9.9 HP High Thrust outboard motors. One outboard is mounted in a recessed engine well in the port hull and carries the 9.9 HP High Thrust decal on the cowling. A second Yamaha 9.9 HP High Thrust outboard is visible sitting unmounted, requires installation. The engine serial numbers are supplied as BABJ1307717 and BABJ13007718. A Honda dual-lever throttle and shift control box is fitted at the helm. Vendor advises outboards require service and one requires installation. The propellers are visible on both motors. The engine wells show staining and soiling.

Electronics and Deck

The helm station is located in the cockpit to starboard with a stainless steel wheel. An Autohelm ST3000 autopilot control unit is fitted at the helm. A Ray marine chart plotter or multifunction display is bracket-mounted inside the cabin at the navigation station. A Lowrance Link-6 VHF radio with handset is fitted on the nav station panel. A Sony marine stereo head unit is mounted below the VHF. A BEP DC meter is fitted on the switch panel. The switch panel features labelled rocker switches for navigation light, anchor light, GPS, booster, DC outlets, instruments, auto pilot, shower drain pump, freshwater pump and saltwater pump among others. A solar panel is mounted on the cabin roof. A barometer and clock are mounted on the mast support column inside the cabin, with corrosion visible on the bezels. A yellow EPIRB is mounted inside the cabin near the nav station. A fire extinguisher is visible mounted on the cabin bulkhead near the companionway door. The cockpit features seating with grey upholstered cushions. A portable barbecue is visible on the aft davit frame. An anchor is stowed on the bow beam with a manual windlass visible on the foredeck. Winches are fitted on both sides of the cockpit coaming and on the cabin top. Rope clutches and organisers are fitted on the cabin top. The foredeck has two mesh trampoline panels laced into aluminium frames. The vessel has a raised cabin with windows on both sides and forward-facing hatches. Deck hatches are fitted on the hull tops for ventilation and access.

Cabin

The main saloon is accessed through double companionway doors and features a U-shaped settee with tan upholstered cushions around a timber drop-leaf or pedestal table. The cabin sole is finished in teak and holly style panelling. The galley is located to port with a stainless steel sink, mixer tap, and storage lockers with latched doors above and below. A second galley area with sink is visible in the port hull. The port hull contains a forward berth area. The starboard hull contains a berth with mattress visible. The head compartment is located in the starboard hull with a manual marine toilet, an oval overhead hatch, and a separate vanity area with sink, mixer tap and shower head. Storage lockers with latched doors are fitted throughout the cabin and hulls. Sail bags and rope are stowed in the forward hull areas. The vessel has 3 berths and 1 toilet as supplied. Fresh water capacity is 600 litres as supplied.

Sailing Rig

The vessel carries a fractional sloop rig with an aluminium mast stepped on the cabin top and an aluminium boom. Standing rigging with wire shrouds and forestay is in place. A furler drum is fitted at the base of the forestay. Halyards and control lines are led aft to the cockpit through rope clutches and organisers. Vendor advises the sail inventory includes: Main - Offshore Sails cruise laminate full battened, Headsails - Offshore Sails Dacron furling genoa and cruise laminate furling jib, Storm jib - Offshore Sails orange Dacron with hanks, Spinnakers - North Sails nylon, Other - Offshore Sails Dacron furling screecher and Offshore Sails boom bag with lazy jacks. Sail bags are visible stowed in the hull compartments.
