Historical Significance

This display commemorates a pivotal moment in Australian Test cricket history. Steve Waugh's 102 not out in the first innings of the fifth Test at the SCG on 03 January 2003 marked his 29th Test century, equalling Sir Donald Bradman's Australian record. The emotional significance of scoring this milestone century in front of a sell-out crowd at the SCG, combined with Waugh's achievement of reaching 10,000 Test runs (only the third player in history to do so at that time), makes this a significant piece of cricket memorabilia.
