An outstanding release from one of Australia's most internationally acclaimed whisky distilleries, this Sullivan's Cove French Oak Single Cask Tasmanian Single Malt is an exceptionally mature expression that exemplifies the richness, elegance and individuality for which the distillery's French Oak releases have become world renowned. Filled on 30 June 2000 and matured for more than 17 years before being decanted on 5 October 2017, this exceptional whisky was drawn exclusively from Barrel HH0377, producing just 455 bottles worldwide. Matured in a French oak ex-Australian fortified wine cask, Barrel HH0377 showcases the hallmark style that has made Sullivan's Cove's French Oak range one of the most celebrated in the whisky world. More than 17 years of patient maturation have allowed the whisky to develop remarkable depth and complexity, with the seasoned French oak imparting luxurious notes of dark fruits, rich chocolate, baking spices and elegant oak tannins, while preserving the vibrant fruit character of the Tasmanian spirit. Individually bottled from a single cask, every release is a unique expression that can never be recreated.
The nose is rich and beautifully layered, revealing aromas of black cherry, stewed plum, dried fig and blackberry conserve, complemented by notes of vanilla bean, caramelised toffee, polished French oak and warm baking spices. The palate is silky and full-bodied, offering generous flavours of dark chocolate, fruitcake, caramelised raisins, roasted coffee beans, orange marmalade and toasted almonds, balanced by hints of clove, cinnamon and refined oak tannins. The finish is exceptionally long and elegant, lingering with impressions of rich cocoa, dried fruits, sweet spice and beautifully integrated French oak, delivering a refined and memorable conclusion.
Filled during 2000, Barrel HH0377 originates from Sullivan's Cove's formative years, making it particularly significant for collectors seeking early mature bottlings from the distillery's award-winning cask programme. With more than 17 years of maturation, a limited outturn of just 455 bottles, and provenance from one of the world's most highly decorated whisky producers, this French Oak Single Cask HH0377 is a superb addition to any premium whisky collection.
