1979 Toyota Landcruiser HJ45 Single Cab Utility - Grey - 53,255km - 3.6L H-Series Inline-6 Diesel - 4-Speed Manual - 4WD - Australian Delivered

The HJ45 cab-chassis ute is the hardest Land Cruiser to find. This Australian-delivered example has 53,255km on the clock and everything you want for the bush.

Overview

The HJ45 single-cab utility represents the pinnacle of Toyota's purpose-built 4WD work vehicle from the late 1970s. This 1979 example carries its Toyota Motor Co. Ltd. factory build plate (frame HJ45-034224, engine 3576cc H-series) and its Australian ADR compliance plate confirming the vehicle designation as D45 L/C C/C (Diesel 45 Land Cruiser Cab-Chassis), June 1979 delivery, GVM 3040kg, seating capacity 3. The H-series 3.6-litre naturally aspirated inline-6 diesel engine is the defining powerplant of this generation, mechanical in its simplicity and legendary for longevity. Engine number H70935 is confirmed on the block.

The vehicle has been refurbished to a high presentational standard. The exterior is finished in grey, repainted over the original cab-chassis body which presents straight and solid. Panels are clean with no evident damage. The tray is painted to match and is in excellent serviceable condition with drop sides. Yellow aftermarket shock absorbers have been fitted front and rear, and all-terrain tyres are mounted on the original grey-painted steel rims. A high-lift jack is mounted on the door pillar, tow ball fitted at rear, and period-style yellow fog lights are fitted to the front bar. RM Williams mud flaps complete the station ute look.

Inside, the three-seat vinyl bench is clean and in very good condition. The dashboard retains all original H-series diesel controls including the WARM PULL (glow plug) and FAN PULL pull-knobs, with the gear shift instruction plate present and legible. The speedo reads 53,255km and the full OIL/FUEL/TEMP/AMP gauge cluster is intact and functional. A retro-style aftermarket stereo (SX-5513 Radio Player) has been fitted in the glove box recess. A Japanese-market "DIESEL / 軽油" (kerosene/diesel) sticker is present at the fuel filler, original to this market variant.
