Distilled on 29 December 2007 and matured for over a decade before its 2018 release, this exceptional single malt was drawn exclusively from Barrel TD0228, yielding just 249 bottles worldwide. Offered here is Bottle No. 184, presented sealed in its original box.
The green-labelled Special Cask series is reserved for some of the rarest and most distinctive whiskies ever produced by Sullivan's Cove. Rather than following the distillery's traditional French Oak or American Oak expressions, these releases are selected from exceptional casks that display truly unique character. Barrel TD0228 was matured in a 300-litre first-fill French Oak ex-Muscat cask, producing a whisky of remarkable richness, complexity and elegance. Bottled at a robust 50% ABV, this release has become highly prized by collectors due to its tiny outturn and singular maturation profile.
The nose is deep and wonderfully expressive, revealing aromas of prunes, dark cherries, blackcurrant jelly and strawberry preserve, layered with hints of truffle, liquorice, worn leather and fragrant rose oil. Delicate herbal notes of sage, lemon leaf and dried hay intertwine with white pepper and cinnamon, creating exceptional aromatic complexity. On the palate, luxurious flavours of rich dark fruits, baking spices, cocoa, dried herbs and subtle oak tannins unfold with impressive weight and texture, while the long, warming finish leaves lingering notes of sweet fortified wine influence, gentle spice and refined French oak.
