Continental, Oak, four door Standing Bookcase. Baronial style, with heavy carved cartouche pediment top. The cartouche flanked by two stylised 'passant' griffins amongst florals and foliage. Spiral twist pillars flank the two glazed doors. A carved wolf head to the frieze with trailing foliage at either side. Two urn shaped reeded finials flank the recessed breakfront moulded and carved cornice top.Three adjustable shelves to interior. A chrysanthemum carved moulding to the edge of the recessed breakfront waistboard. Two half drawers beneath with demon mask finger grips. Two relief carved panelled cupboard doors to the lower part, each with geometric border and carved snipe hung for curing as the centre motif.The spiral twist pillars repeated at either side and the whole thing supported on a recessed breakfront carved moulded base rail that forms a plinth to the turned bun shaped corner feet.Width: 137 cm.Origin: GermanyCirca date: 1870-80
