"Head of a Girl" is a small, intimately scaled etching depicting a young woman or girl in bust-length portrait, her dark hair drawn up, wearing a striped garment. The characterful cross-hatching and sparse economical line - the hallmarks of Cezanne's exploratory graphic work - are present throughout. Cezanne is known to have made very few etchings, and his early graphic works are a small documented body. The COA from Independent Art Auctioneers (NSW) attributes this work to Cezanne and states it was "produced from the original etching plate." A mark reading "P. Cez..." is partially visible in the plate. Buyers should conduct independent research, including consulting the Cezanne catalogue raisonné, regarding the impression's history and authenticity.<br>
