Matisse returned to the view of Notre Dame repeatedly throughout his Paris years, producing both paintings and prints from his studio window looking out toward the cathedral. The etching is signed "H Matisse" in the lower right corner. The COA from Independent Auctioneers (NSW) confirms attribution and states the work was produced from "the original etching plate." Buyers are encouraged to conduct independent research into the impression history and provenance of this print beyond the existing authentication.

Artist attributed: Henri Matisse (1869-1954)
Title: Notre Dame
Medium: Etching on paper
Date: c. 1905
Signature: "H Matisse" lower right
COA: Yes - Independent Auctioneers, Rozelle NSW, authenticated by Justin Turner (AVAA No. 103), dated 22/11/2007
Frame: Ornate carved gilt rococo, cream mat, glazed 221830+6
