<b>Description</b><br>
A pure geometric abstraction in which ISHISHI's mastery of spatial illusion is on full display. Three large overlapping circles or spheres are arranged diagonally across the picture plane, connected by sinuous curving bands. The entire surface - both within and outside the spheres - is filled with an intricate mosaic of interlocking geometric shapes: cubes, parallelograms, triangles and chevrons creating an Escher-style tessellation that shifts between two and three dimensions. The areas within the spheres are rendered in darker, more shadowed tones, creating a sense of depth and transparency against the lighter, more colourful background tessellation.<br><br>
The palette is vibrant and warm: pinks, reds, blues, oranges, yellows, purples and earth tones all feature in the tessellation mosaic. This is one of the most formally resolved and compositionally elegant works in the collection - a confident demonstration of geometric draughtsmanship. Verso: "© 2022" (probable).
