<b>Description</b><br>
A conceptually clever work in which the architectural labyrinth is contained within the silhouette of a keyhole - the circular top and rectangular shaft clearly defined against the cream paper. The keyhole functions as a portal: through it, ISHISHI's characteristic impossible architecture unfolds, with buildings, Gothic arched windows, spiral staircases, geometric blocks and architectural fragments interlocking in Escher-esque spatial relationships. A church or cathedral with a pointed Gothic window is visible at the centre.<br><br>
The entire composition is executed in a single shade of blue pencil, making it one of the starkly monochromatic works in the collection alongside the blue ballpoint pen pieces. The signature is in red/brown pencil at lower right, providing the only chromatic contrast. Verso: "© 2016". Dark marks/smudging on verso at top edge. Otherwise in good condition.<br><br>
