Description
The Yanmar SV100-2B is a 10 tonne class hydraulic excavator from one of Japan's most respected manufacturers. At 9,775 kg operating weight (rubber shoe configuration), it sits in the sweet spot between the compact excavators used for residential and landscaping work and the mid-size machines used for production earthworks. It is big enough to be productive on civil sites and compact enough to work in restricted spaces. The Yanmar 4TNV98T turbo diesel engine is one of the most reliable and fuel-efficient powerplants in the 10 tonne class.
The defining feature of this machine is the Steelwrist tilt rotator system. A Steelwrist QC S50 FFL quick coupler (Serial 229561, Year 2020, working pressure 270 bar, weight 70kg) is fitted, providing tool-free attachment changes. Mounted above the coupler is a Steelwrist tilt rotator that provides full 360 degree continuous rotation plus hydraulic tilt on any attachment connected to it. The dedicated Steelwrist hydraulic lines (green wrapped hoses) run the full length of the boom and stick. The Steelwrist controller with its own LCD touchscreen display is mounted in the cab, giving the operator full control of rotation speed, tilt angle, and coupler engagement. This complete Steelwrist package, supplied and fitted, costs $25,000 to $40,000 or more.
For civil contractors, plumbers, landscapers, and anyone working in tight residential or urban environments, a tilt rotator transforms a conventional dig-and-dump excavator into a precision grading, shaping, and placement tool. A GP bucket becomes a grading bucket. A trenching bucket can angle into corners. The machine does the work of two or three conventional excavators.
