Description

Official Royal Australian Mint issue honouring animals that served alongside Australian forces in wartime. The reverse features four animals arranged around a central purple poppy: a horse, a dog, a cat, and a pigeon/dove, surrounded by a leaf and flower wreath, designed by B. Scott. The purple poppy is the internationally recognised symbol of remembrance for animals who served and died in war. The obverse displays the effigy of the reigning monarch. Struck in aluminium-bronze with uncirculated finish and purple enamel colour applied to the central poppy. Diameter 20.50 mm. Mintage limited to 100,000. Presented in the original Royal Australian Mint card packaging. Coin is in pristine uncirculated condition.
