Description New Zealand issued this $1 commemorative coin in 1978 to mark the 25th anniversary of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II (crowned 2 June 1953). The obverse features a dual portrait of Queen Elizabeth II - a younger coronation likeness alongside her 1978 portrait - with the inscription "ELIZABETH II QUEEN OF NEW ZEALAND / CORONATION 2 June, 1953 / 1978" and the Royal Cypher EIIR. The reverse depicts the Beehive (Executive Wing, New Zealand Parliament Buildings, Wellington), one of New Zealand's most distinctive modernist architectural landmarks. Presented in its original square clear plastic snap case with a purple card insert reading "NEW ZEALAND 1978", manufactured in England. Coin is in uncirculated condition with good lustre intact.
