Description Issued in 1989 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the French Revolution, this medallion features a relief depiction of the Bastille fortress on the obverse, the iconic Paris prison whose storming on 14 July 1789 became the defining moment of the Revolution. French text references "Bastille" and the date 1789. The warm, bright gold tone is typical of a brass or gold-plated base metal alloy. The piece is housed in its original square clear plastic snap case with a French Tricolore (blue, white, red) card insert printed with "FRENCH REVOLUTION 1789 / 1989 BICENTENNIAL". Both the medallion and the presentation card are in excellent uncirculated condition with no visible wear, scratching, or fading. Not a precious metal piece.
