1964 New Zealand One Florin (2 Shillings) - Queen Elizabeth II / Kiwi, Copper-Nickel, VF Grade Copper-nickel. Mary Gillick portrait of QEII. Kiwi bird reverse. Royal Mint London (no mint mark). VF-25 to VF-30. Description A circulated example of the 1964 New Zealand Florin, one of the last pre-decimal issues before New Zealand adopted decimal currency in 1967. The obverse carries the laureate portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Mary Gillick with legend "QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND". The reverse displays New Zealand's iconic kiwi bird in its characteristic foraging posture, bill probing downward, with the inscriptions "NEW ZEALAND / ONE FLORIN 1964". Struck at the Royal Mint London with no mint mark. Composition is copper-nickel; New Zealand abandoned silver for florins from 1947, so this is a base metal coin. Condition shows moderate even wear on the portrait's high points and the kiwi's feather detail; legends and date fully legible. General field toning and contact marks consistent with circulated status.
