About the BF200D
Honda's BF200D is a V6 four-stroke outboard delivering 200HP (147.1 kW rated). The "D" variant features Honda's iST (intelligent Shift and Throttle) drive-by-wire system, the same technology that underpins Honda's flagship BF350. Drive-by-wire replaces mechanical throttle and shift cables with an electronic control system, enabling smoother operation, engine synchronisation, and advanced helm features. Both motors are made in Japan and carry Honda's reputation for long-term reliability and low maintenance costs. New replacement cost for a pair of BF200D outboards with full rigging runs well north of $40,000.
Condition
Both motors have been removed from a vessel and are mounted on transport cradles. Cowlings on both motors are in very good cosmetic condition with no cracks, fading, or significant damage. Engine internals on both motors, photographed with cowlings open, are very clean with no visible corrosion, oil weeping, or damaged wiring. All ignition coils, ECUs, fuse boxes, and wiring harnesses appear properly seated and intact. The condition of the internals is consistent with low to moderate use, though hours cannot be confirmed and buyers should verify on inspection.
Vendor advises engine hours are unknown. Evidence of prior saltwater use is present on the transom mounting brackets, with marine growth visible on the tilt tube/swivel area of both motors. The bracket structures appear mechanically sound beneath the growth. Buyers should factor in bracket cleaning, anode inspection and replacement, and a compression test as part of any pre-purchase assessment.
