The VDJ79R is the benchmark for serious remote-area and off-road work. Powered by Toyota's 1VD-FTV 4.5-litre V8 turbo diesel, this single cab chassis drives through a 5-speed manual gearbox and part-time 4WD with low-range transfer case. The inner cowl area on the passenger side shows active surface rust where moisture has worked into the heater box metalwork over time, consistent with the vehicle's service life. Surface rust is also present on sections of the undercarriage despite the 2024 coating treatment.
