2000 Mustang 3400 Sportscruiser - Twin Inboard Petrol - 903/924 Hours - Project/Recommission - Mackay Harbour QLD
Australian-built 10-metre fibreglass cruiser with twin inboard petrol engines and moderate hours, presented as a recommission opportunity. Comprehensive fit-out including onboard generator, Muir electric windlass, full electronics, and cockpit entertainment. Vendor advises engines non-running due to electrical issues. Inspection strongly recommended.
Hull and Construction
Fibreglass hull. LOA approx 10.4m (34ft), beam approx 3.4m. HIN: AU-MUS X0034 G000. Built 2000 by Q-Corp Marine Pty Ltd t/as Mustang Cruisers, Gold Coast, QLD. The Mustang 3400 Sportscruiser is a well-regarded Australian-built platform known for its practical layout and genuine cruising capability. Hull presents in fair to average condition for age - white gelcoat holds reasonable gloss overall with age-related chalking and minor surface scuffs to the rub rail area. Navy blue boot stripe and decorative graphic stripes intact. The hull sits level on her designed waterline with no visible listing or trim issues. No osmotic blistering or crazing observed above the waterline from photos. Vendor advises hull appears straight with no obvious major structural damage sighted. Rust staining runs from stainless steel portlight frames on the topsides, consistent with fittings of this age in a saltwater marina environment. Waterline shows light growth staining typical for a vessel kept in the water at Mackay Harbour. Swim platform is fibreglass with moulded non-skid steps. Stainless steel bow pulpit, handrails, and boarding ladder present and serviceable. Foredeck is sound; smoked Perspex deck hatch in good order. Transom appears solid above the waterline from close-up photos. No underwater hull assessment is possible from photos - vessel is marina-berthed in water. Survey strongly recommended.
Motors and Drive
Twin inboard petrol engines. V8 configuration. Quicksilver (Mercury Marine) twin-lever engine throttle controls at helm, Faria twin-engine analogue gauge suite throughout - both consistent with MerCruiser inboard configuration. Engine model not confirmed from photos; engine labels not fully legible. Engine hours: port approx 903 hours, starboard approx 924 hours - both read from photographed Faria Elapsed Time meters mounted on the helm panel. Vendor advises engines do not currently run due to electrical issues. Requirement is for new batteries and electrical attention. No mechanical testing has been conducted. Engine bay photos show both engines accessible from cockpit hatches. Significant surface corrosion is present on front-end engine accessories on both engines - belt drive pulleys, alternator housings, bracket areas, and exhaust manifold/riser areas show heavy rust. Exhaust risers and manifolds show particular corrosion consistent with saltwater environment and should be assessed as a priority item. Bilge area shows accumulated grime and residual moisture. Vendor's electrical diagnosis may be correct, but the scope of engine bay remediation beyond batteries warrants professional assessment. Propulsion is inboard shaft drive.
Electronics and Instruments
Garmin GPSmap 172C colour chartplotter/sounder mounted at helm (lower dash, port side). Navman Fuel 2100 fuel management display mounted at centre dash. Uniden VHF marine radio with coiled handheld mic (port dash). Uniden remote-control searchlight joystick controller at helm. Full Faria analogue twin-engine gauge suite: twin tachometers, oil pressure, water temperature, fuel level, trim indicators, and voltmeters for both engines. Flush-mounted magnetic compass below the wheel. Bow-mounted remote-control searchlight on stainless pulpit. DC-GEN 1800 onboard diesel generator with dedicated control panel visible at the main electrical distribution board. Satellite or GPS dome antenna visible on arch/mast above helm.
Deck and Cockpit
Teak-strip cockpit decking - weathered and silvered naturally but structurally intact. L-shaped and U-shaped cream vinyl cockpit lounge seating with navy piping - upholstery in fair condition overall, serviceable with some age-related soiling. Teak-topped pedestal dinette table. Cockpit wet bar unit with stainless steel sink, chrome tap, and teak slatted covers. Clear-door curved cabinet containing cocktail glassware and marine safety flares in cockpit wet bar area. Cockpit bar fridge (clear-door unit, starboard aft). Large flat-screen TV on swing arm bracket mounted on cockpit cabin roof structure - good size, approximately 32-40 inches. 4 x stainless steel rod holders on port gunwale rod rack (teak-planked frame, frame weathered and cracked, requires replacement). 4 x vertical rod holders at transom. Navy bimini top on stainless steel frame - serviceable condition. Full clear PVC camper cockpit enclosure - PVC shows some UV hazing consistent with tropical use, frames and zips functional. Cockpit speaker (white flush-mounted, port side). Transom door/gate for swim platform access. Fire extinguisher mounted at helm station. Stainless stern boarding ladder.
Interior - Saloon, Galley, and Cabin
Main saloon has convertible dinette on starboard side (L-shaped bench seating, foldable table to berth) and port-side settee. Cream vinyl upholstery with navy piping throughout - shows age-related soiling and brown/tan staining, likely mildew from tropical conditions. Galley (starboard side) fitted with Kenyon Marine two-burner pressurised alcohol stove (burner elements corroded, require servicing or replacement before use), blue speckled solid-surface benchtop, undermount stainless single-bowl sink with chrome single-lever mixer tap, under-counter bar fridge, and white domestic-style microwave in a recess above the galley. Minor delamination at galley benchtop front edge above the fridge - cosmetic repair. Flat-screen TV and aftermarket marine stereo installed in saloon bulkhead. Microwave installation shows rust freckling on surrounding bulkhead panel. Blue/navy carpet throughout cabin - worn, stained in places. Head compartment has manual marine toilet, moulded fibreglass vanity/sink, chrome mixer tap, large mirror, and opening oval portlight with flyscreen. Forward V-berth sleeping cabin with original Mustang patterned fabric cushions, 12V ceiling fan, opening oval portlight with flyscreen, deck hatch above. Overall headliner condition: mould and mildew spotting present on white fibreglass headliner throughout the cabin - most pronounced in the forward berth where brown/dark spots are clearly visible on sides and overhead. This is cosmetic in a marine context but is material and should be treated as part of recommissioning. Loose wiring visible in the forward berth area along the forward bulkhead - should be secured.
Systems
DC-GEN 1800 onboard diesel generator (fitted, visible in engine bay area, control panel at helm electrical panel). Muir electric anchor windlass with keyed battery isolator switch at the main panel. Plough-style anchor stowed on bow roller with chain and rope rode. TBS Electronics battery monitor at helm panel. SP Tools 15A smart battery charger connected in engine bay. Shore power inlet on transom. 240V distribution in cabin: outlets fitted, supplies microwave, cooktop, and AC outlets per switch panel. Stainless steel hot water calorifier in engine bay. Electric freshwater pump, shower drain pump, bilge pumps (fore and aft) per distribution panel. Trim tabs per switch panel circuit. Saltwater pump circuit per panel. Switch panel indicates an apparent air conditioning or freezer circuit is fitted. Multiple opening oval portlights with stainless frames and flyscreens throughout cabin sides.
Safety Equipment
Overhead storage locker labelled "LIFEJACKETS" (port side saloon, hinged locker with latch - contents not fully visible in photos). Marine safety flares visible in cockpit wet bar clear-door cabinet (type and expiry dates not legible from photos). Fire extinguisher mounted at helm station (brand, size, and expiry not confirmed from photos). EPIRB: not photographed, presence and status not confirmed from available photos. All safety equipment is sold as is. Buyers must verify compliance and currency for their intended operating area and intended use.
