14ct Yellow Gold Tanzanite Cabochon and Diamond Cocktail Ring - 13.31ct Oval Cabochon, Diamond Halo with Milgrain, Decorative Filigree Gallery



Overview

At 13.31ct, this oval tanzanite cabochon is a genuinely large stone with a commanding presence. Cabochon tanzanite in this size range is less common than faceted tanzanite, and the high domed cut emphasises the stone's rich purplish-blue body colour without the competing brilliance of faceting. The stone measures 16.92mm x 12.28mm with a dome height of 6.30mm, sitting well above the band on double yellow gold claws. A halo of 34 bead-set round brilliant-cut diamonds in white gold with milgrain detailing surrounds the circumference, and diamond-set shoulders continue the sparkle down each side of the band.



The setting is built on an ornate decorative filigree basket gallery in yellow gold with scroll and openwork designs, visible from both the side and back. The combination of the warm yellow gold and cool white gold diamond settings against the blue-violet tanzanite is well-considered. The tanzanite shows moderate eye-visible inclusions, which is standard and expected for a stone of this size, and does not materially affect the face-up display from normal viewing distance.



Gemley Valuations issued a retail replacement certificate (No. 0823498, August 2023) at AUD $9,590, assessed by Sanaa Jaafar (FGAA, AJP, dpG, DG, AJVG Registered Valuer, GAA Member). Photos confirm excellent condition with all stones secure and ornate gallery work intact.
