Overview

A beautifully structured platinum dress ring with clear Art Deco influences. The 2.215ct emerald-cut ruby (medium purplish-red, 8.12mm x 6.08mm) sits in a rub-over bezel at the centre of a layered octagonal halo: an inner milgrain-edged border surrounds the ruby, then an outer frame carries 26 micro-claw-set round brilliant-cut diamonds, also finished with milgrain detailing on both inner and outer edges. The milgrain work gives this ring its period character. A further 12 bead-set round brilliant diamonds run along the upswept shoulders of the half-round platinum band, bringing the total diamond count to 38 stones at 0.425ct.



The setting is constructed on a wire basket framework with geometric openwork beneath the ruby, allowing the stone's vivid red body colour to be seen through the pavilion from all angles. Photos confirm the platinum is clean and well-maintained, the diamonds are all secure, and the architectural gallery framework is intact. The ruby shows moderate inclusions visible to the eye, which is characteristic of natural ruby at this carat weight, and a minor surface mark is faintly visible on the table facet.
