Description / Overview:
The Austin Healey Sprite MK1 is one of the most beloved British sports cars ever built. The "Bugeye" was introduced in 1958, designed by Donald Healey's team to put genuinely fun sports car driving within reach of younger buyers. Light, simple, quick to react, and now deeply collectible, the MK1 was built for just three years before the facelifted MK2 replaced it. Only the MK1 has those distinctive frog-eye headlamp pods, and no other car looks quite like one.
This example has been comprehensively restored and presents in outstanding condition. The Primrose Yellow paint is fresh and correctly finished, the body panels are straight and rust-free on the exterior, the new black soft top is properly fitted, and the chrome work throughout is bright and presentable. The restoration covers the interior completely: new carpet, refurbished instruments (total odometer 562 post-restoration miles, with a trip reading of 181 miles), and fresh seat trim. The engine bay shows a correct BMC A-series unit with twin SU carburettors and a modern replacement battery. The car has been driven minimally since completion.
Note for buyers: The car has been modified with a non-original tachometer, aftermarket mesh air filters on the SU carburettors, an alternator conversion in place of the original dynamo, and a chrome aftermarket rocker cover.
