1974 Bultaco Sherpa T 250 If you know trials riding, you already know exactly why this matters. The Bultaco Sherpa T is the bike that Sammy Miller helped develop in the late 1960s and that rewrote the rules of trials competition. For most of the next decade, Sherpa T riders were the ones scaling boulders, balancing on boulders, and making every other manufacturer look like they had not done the homework. This is that bike. This 1974 Sherpa T 250 presents as an honest, largely original example that has not been over-restored into a show piece. The tank is the star of the show. The red and white/silver livery is in genuinely excellent condition with strong gloss and the classic Bultaco running-bulls circular badge showing crisp and clean. The alloy fenders carry the right kind of age patina. The engine cases show honest use without damage. Everything looks complete and correct to the original specification. Most importantly, this is a matching-numbers machine. Frame number B-8000554 and engine number M-8000554 share the same serial, and both stampings look original with consistent depth and spacing. No evidence of grinding or re-stamping. For a 50-year-old Spanish trials machine, that is exactly what you want to see and it matters for value. The 250cc two-stroke single is complete with carburettor fitted, kickstart present, and expansion chamber intact. Classic competition specification means no lights, no instruments, no mirrors. Just the essentials for slow-speed technical riding, exactly as it left the Bultaco factory in Barcelona. The drilled lightweight rear sprocket is correct. The Betor-style twin rear shocks with the red spring covers are right. The trials tyres have usable tread remaining. Bultaco Sherpa T values have been climbing as the vintage trials revival brings new buyers to these machines. A matching-numbers original example in this condition has real long-term appeal, and the bonus is you can actually ride it in vintage trials events.
