Collection of Cricket Books and Sports Items - Approximately 15-16 Cricket Volumes Plus Mixed Items A mixed collection of approximately 15-16 cricket books in hardcover and paperback formats, together with a Darren Lockyer rugby league autobiography (still sealed in cellophane), a cricket-themed card game, and a small number of non-sports books. Good to very good condition throughout. Description The cricket collection component has some strong literary and biographical titles. R.C. Robertson-Glasgow's "Crusoe on Cricket" is the standout - Robertson-Glasgow was one of the finest cricket writers of the 20th century, combining a career as a county cricketer with writing of genuine wit and insight. His cricket essays are held in high regard by collectors and any edition of his work is worth seeking. Simon Rae's "W.G. Grace: A Life," published by Faber and Faber (whose ff logo is clearly visible on the spine), is a substantial modern biography of the most iconic figure in cricket history, written to the high standard the Faber imprint demands. Also present are David Kynaston's "WG's Birthday Party" (Kynaston is one of Britain's most respected historians and his cricket writing brings the same rigour as his social history work), "Cardus in the Covers" (a collection of Neville Cardus's cricket writing), a John Arlott related title in a distinctive cream cover, David Gower's "The Autobiography" (with the large distinctive green GOWER lettering), Nasser Hussain's "Playing with Fire" (Michael Joseph), "Double Century: 200 Years of Cricket in The Times" edited by Marcus Williams (Collins Willow), "The Observer on Cricket" edited by Scyld Berry (Unwin Hyman), and biographies of Godfrey Evans (Christopher Sandford), Mark Waugh (James Knight), and Peter May. A humorous title, "The Bowler's Holding the Batsman's Willey" by Geoff Tibballs, rounds out the cricket reading. Also included in the lot: a Darren Lockyer (rugby league) autobiography still sealed in original cellophane with library barcode, a First Class Cricket card game (UCG, red box), and a small number of non-sports books including Giuliani's "Leadership" and "The Richest Man in Babylon" by George Clason. At specialist dealer prices, the cricket books alone represent replacement value of AUD $200-$500 or more depending on editions. Titles Identified in Photos Cricket books: * Crusoe on Cricket - R.C.
