A magnificent Victorian-era vanity desk with mirror, crafted in rich mahogany with elaborate gilt-bronze and enamel embellishments. The piece features a serpentine-fronted desk base with three drawers, each adorned with decorative enamel panels depicting classical scrollwork and foliate motifs in gold and green tones. Turned and fluted bronze columns frame the central knee space, while the curved apron displays intricate inlay work. The upper section comprises a substantial mirror frame with matching gilt-bronze moulding and decorative enamel frieze, supported by the same architectural columns. The mirror glass is bevelled and intact. The desk surface displays burr walnut veneer with crossbanding. All hardware appears original, including brass handles and hinges. The piece exhibits the hallmarks of quality Victorian craftsmanship with its combination of solid mahogany construction, premium veneers, and high-quality bronze fittings. Minor surface wear consistent with age and use; some light scratching to the veneer and patina to the gilt surfaces. The mirror back panel shows age-appropriate condition.
