Description
The Freightliner Cascadia is Daimler's flagship bonneted prime mover for the Australian market, powered by the Detroit inline-6 turbo diesel through the DT12 automated manual transmission. This unit is B-double approved at 55,000 kg GCM and road train approved at 70,000 kg GCM, giving it maximum operational versatility for any linehaul application. The 6x4 configuration with air-ride suspension on the tandem drive axles is the standard long-haul setup.
At 424,190 km and 7,928 engine hours, this Cascadia is in the early-to-mid portion of its working life for a long-haul prime mover (typical 500,000 to 1,500,000 km). The cab interior features black leather-trimmed air-ride driver's and passenger seats, Freightliner multifunction steering wheel, Detroit Assurance forward-facing safety camera module (note: Guardian fatigue monitoring system not included), colour LCD instrument cluster, aftermarket rear-view camera monitor, GME XRS Connect UHF radio, and overhead storage. The driver's seat right bolster shows wear and minor tear damage. The windscreen has significant cracking/shattering on the driver's side and will need replacement.
The engine bay presents well for the kilometres. Detroit fuel filter/water separator, coolant at proper level, no visible leaks. Front steer tyres are TBB TA20 Highway 295/80R22.5 on polished alloy wheels with moderate tread. Drive tyres are Haulmax 11R22.5 on alloy rims with adequate tread. Fifth wheel is greased and serviceable. The truck was HVA wheel-aligned in April 2022 and has a VIC heavy vehicle modification plate (P2 code, April 2022).
