THE ROYAL NORFOLK REGIMENT – OFFICER'S HELMET PLATE
This Plate Represents A Regiment Whose Roots Run Back To 1685 As The 9Th Regiment Of Foot. The “Norfolks” Served Under Marlborough In The War Of The Spanish Succession, Marched Through The Peninsular War, Endured The Crimean Winter, And Policed An Expanding Empire In India And Beyond.
Under The 1881 Childers Reforms The Old 9Th Became The Norfolk Regiment, Officially Linked To Its County. In 1935, In Recognition Of Long And Distinguished Service — Including The Western Front In The Great War — It Was Granted The Coveted Title The Royal Norfolk Regiment.
The Officer’S Home Service Helmet Plate, With Crowned Star And Laurel Wreath Framing The Regimental Title And Britannia Device, Is The Late-Victorian And Edwardian Visual Signature Of This Proud Lineage: County, Crown And Campaign Service Fused Into One Emblem Worn On Parade And Full Dress.
