Australian Antarctic Territory 1c S.Y. Aurora - Full Sheet of 100 Stamps, Appears Mint Unhinged

Australian Antarctic Territory 1c definitive, S.Y. Aurora design. Full sheet of 100 stamps. 1979-1981 Ships definitive series. Appears Mint Unhinged (MUH).

Description

The 1979-1981 Australian Antarctic Territory Ships definitive series is a recognised modern AAT issue, printed by the Note Printing Branch of the Reserve Bank of Australia. The series features the historic vessels associated with Australian Antarctic exploration. The 1c value depicts the S.Y. Aurora, the three-masted barquentine that carried Sir Douglas Mawson's Australasian Antarctic Expedition of 1911-1914 and later supported Shackleton's Ross Sea party during the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition. Full sheets with intact gutters and printer's colour registration marks are a more complete philatelic format than singles or sets.

Photos show the sheet presenting flat with no visible storage folds or creases. The full sheet is arranged as two panes of 50 stamps (10 columns by 5 rows each), separated by a central horizontal gutter containing printer's colour traffic light dots in magenta, cyan, yellow, black, and additional process colours. Comb perforations appear complete and intact throughout. Colours are fresh and bright with no evidence of toning or foxing. Complete selvedge margins on all four sides. Condition appears consistent with Mint Unhinged (MUH); the vendor describes condition as Good - refer to images for your own assessment.

Full MUH sheets of low-denomination AAT definitives from this series are available from specialist dealers at $15-$45 depending on condition. This lot represents an opportunity to acquire a complete sheet at auction. Catalogue reference: ACSC L37.
