Lori Clevens ‘Journey On’ 610mm (w) x 510mm (h) Story: This artwork represents the ongoing journey of Yalari past, present and future. It shows the connection between different tribes and cultures that come together because of Yalari’s impact on education. The yellow ochre, burnt sienna, white and red 20 dots represent the 20 years of Yalari celebration so far, and the further dots are the future years of Yalari to follow. The Yarning Circles represent everyone connected and coming together from different lands and sharing stories, ideas and teaching each other about our tribes and cultures. The sky, stars and moon are our ancestors, watching, guiding and looking after us always. Artist bio: My name is Lori Clevens, I’m a proud Wakka Wakka woman from Cherbourg in the South Burnett area of Queensland. I began my Yalari journey on a scholarship to The Glennie School in Toowoomba in 2010. I love Indigenous dot painting, it brings me closer to my culture and expands my imagination of dreaming and creating my stories. I currently live in Brisbane and am mother to three boys. Supplied with Certificate of Authenticity.
