Bottled on 21 July 2017, this release bears Double Cask No. DC093, with the youngest whisky distilled on 21 November 2005. Just 1,377 bottles were produced worldwide, with this offering comprising Bottle No. 1,236.
The Rare Double Cask series showcases Sullivan's Cove's expertise in marrying exceptional mature casks to create whiskies of outstanding harmony and complexity. Rather than highlighting the character of a single barrel, each Double Cask release is carefully assembled to balance fruit, oak and spice while retaining the distinctive elegance and richness of the distillery's celebrated Tasmanian spirit. Bottled at 47.5% ABV, Double Cask DC093 offers a refined and approachable expression that has become increasingly sought after as these early releases continue to disappear into private collections.
The nose is expressive and inviting, revealing aromas of vanilla bean, golden honey, baked pear and ripe stone fruits, complemented by layers of butterscotch, toasted almonds and delicate baking spice. The palate is smooth and luxuriously textured, unfolding with flavours of salted caramel, malted biscuits, dried apricot, roasted hazelnuts and creamy milk chocolate, enhanced by subtle notes of orange zest, cinnamon and polished oak. The finish is long, warming and elegantly balanced, lingering with impressions of vanilla fudge, toffee, gentle spice and sweet malt, leaving a refined and memorable conclusion.
With mature spirit dating back to 2005, a limited production of just 1,377 bottles, and provenance from one of the world's most awarded whisky distilleries, this Rare Double Cask DC093 represents an increasingly collectible expression and an outstanding opportunity for collectors, investors and enthusiasts seeking a premium Australian single malt.
