Distilled on 4 September 2008 and matured for almost nine years before bottling on 13 September 2017, this outstanding brandy was drawn exclusively from Barrel TDB0040, producing just 473 bottles worldwide. Produced from carefully selected Australian wine spirit and matured in a single oak cask, Sullivan's Cove's Single Cask XO Brandy is bottled without blending, allowing the distinctive character of each individual barrel to shine. This patient maturation results in a spirit of remarkable richness, elegance and complexity, balancing vibrant fruit with refined oak influence. Produced in very limited numbers, these single cask brandies have become increasingly desirable among collectors as examples of Australia's finest small-batch distillation.
The nose is rich and expressive, revealing inviting aromas of dried apricot, golden sultanas, baked apple and orange marmalade, complemented by layers of vanilla bean, butterscotch, toasted almonds and subtle oak spice. The palate is luxuriously smooth and full-bodied, offering generous flavours of caramel, honeyed raisins, ripe stone fruits, roasted hazelnuts and fine dark chocolate, enhanced by hints of cinnamon, nutmeg and candied citrus peel. The finish is exceptionally long and warming, lingering with notes of vanilla, dried fruit, caramelised oak and delicate baking spices, leaving a refined and satisfying conclusion.
