Bottled on 30 July 2017, this distinguished release is identified as Double Cask No. DC094, with the youngest component distilled on 5 May 2008. Limited to just 1,362 bottles worldwide, this offering is Bottle No. 695, presented sealed in its original box.
The Rare Double Cask Edition series is created by marrying a select number of outstanding mature casks, producing a whisky that offers exceptional harmony while preserving the distinctive fruit-forward style that has become synonymous with Sullivan's Cove. Unlike the distillery's celebrated single cask expressions, each Double Cask release is carefully assembled to showcase the complementary qualities of multiple barrels, resulting in a whisky of impressive consistency, richness and complexity. Double Cask DC094 was bottled at 47.5% ABV, delivering a refined balance of mature oak influence and vibrant Tasmanian spirit.
The nose is elegant and inviting, revealing aromas of golden honey, vanilla bean, baked pear and ripe apricot, complemented by notes of toffee, toasted almond and delicate baking spice. The palate is smooth and beautifully layered, offering flavours of salted caramel, malt biscuits, dried orchard fruits, roasted hazelnuts and creamy milk chocolate, supported by hints of orange zest, cinnamon and polished oak. The finish is long and warming, with lingering notes of vanilla fudge, butterscotch, gentle spice, toasted oak and sweet malt, leaving a refined and memorable conclusion.
With its limited 1,362-bottle production, carefully selected marriage of mature Tasmanian single malts and provenance from one of the world's most highly awarded whisky distilleries, this Rare Double Cask Edition DC094 represents an increasingly collectible expression and an outstanding addition to any premium whisky collection.
