Waterways Fibreglass Runabout, approx 14-16ft + Tohatsu 50HP 2-Stroke + Marlin Trailer - Project Package
Classic Australian-made fibreglass runabout from the 1980s-90s on a galvanised Marlin single-axle trailer, powered by a Tohatsu 50HP 2-stroke. Motor is currently non-start. The hull presents as structurally intact with all the bones of a solid project or parts boat - and it comes loaded with gear including a VHF radio, fishfinder, multiple life jackets, rod holders, and a bimini. Buy the package, sort the motor, and you have a genuinely capable family runabout.
Hull and Deck
Waterways fibreglass construction. Estimated 14-16 feet based on hull profile and Marlin SK16-1 trailer rating. HIN: AUWW064200669. The hull runs a cream/off-white lower section with an orange-red upper deck and gunwale cap, classic of the era. Gelcoat is cosmetically tired throughout - faded, chalked, and stained - but no structural cracks, delamination, or obvious soft spots visible from inspection. Stringers visible through open hatch appear intact. Transom looks solid. The wrap-around tinted perspex windscreen on an aluminium frame is hazy with age but structurally present. Stainless/aluminium bow rail and bow cleat fitted. Black rubber rub rail on hull sides.
Motor
Tohatsu M50D2, 3-cylinder 2-stroke, 50HP (36.8kW). Serial number 052281AX. Full throttle range 5150-5850 RPM. Oil injection system fitted. Power tilt and trim fitted with hydraulic rams. Remote throttle and shift control with trim switch. Engine hours unknown - no hour meter visible. Vendor advises the motor is non-start. Powerhead is externally intact with no signs of catastrophic failure from inspection. Remote steering, kill switch lanyard present.
Electronics and Instruments
Standard Horizon GX600 VHF marine radio (white housing, LCD display, coiled handset) fitted and mounted on the dashboard. Fishfinder/sounder unit mounted starboard dash (brand not fully legible from photos, appears to be Lowrance Eagle or similar). Speedometer. Ignition key switch.
Cockpit and Fittings
Two pedestal seats (fibreglass shells, seat cushions present, worn). Carpeted rear bench seat spanning the transom. 4-6 rod holders (rocket launcher style) on both gunwales. Aluminium folding boarding ladder. Blue canvas bimini on aluminium frame (stowed). Anchor well with grapnel anchor, rope, and bucket. NSW Maritime Safe Boating placard. Aluminium windscreen frame/grab rail running both gunwales.
Safety Equipment
At least 5-6 orange adult PFDs (Type 1 and Type 2 life jackets) included. Small red dry-powder fire extinguisher present. Safety equipment sold as-is. Buyers to verify compliance for intended operating area.
Trailer
Marlin SK16-1 single-axle galvanised trailer. ATM: 750kg. VIN: 6T6MARL1N4W100677. Manual bow winch. Bearing buddies fitted on hub. Combination tail lights. Steel multi-spoke wheels, tyres with reasonable tread remaining. Trailer frame main rails and drawbar in generally sound condition. Leaf spring suspension and rear roller brackets show significant surface corrosion (galvanising failed in these areas). Keel and side rollers are worn and will benefit from replacement. Trailer rego status: vendor to confirm.
Condition Notes
* Motor is non-start. Cause unknown. Powerhead externally intact, no catastrophic damage visible.
* Gelcoat heavily faded and chalked throughout. Cosmetic deterioration only - no structural damage observed.
* Windscreen perspex hazy with age.
* Trailer leaf spring suspension and rear roller brackets show significant corrosion. Rollers worn.
* Interior is dirty. No standing water observed.
