Description
The SLK55 AMG was Mercedes-AMG's compact roadster flagship and the last car to receive the hand-built M152 naturally aspirated V8. Every engine was assembled by a single technician at AMG's Affalterbach factory in Germany, and this example carries the signed plaque of builder Alexander Vorsade under the bonnet. Producing 310kW and 540Nm without turbocharging, the M152 delivers the kind of linear, high-revving V8 response that modern forced-induction engines have largely replaced. Paired with the 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic and AMG SPEEDSHIFT calibration, this powertrain recorded a 4.6-second 0-100km/h when new. The original Australian retail price was approximately $165,000.
This black example presents in good condition for the mileage. The paintwork holds strong gloss and depth across all panels with no significant dents or damage visible. The retractable metal hardtop transforms the car from a sealed coupe to an open roadster in around 20 seconds and is shown in the closed position in all photos. The black leather interior with contrast stitching shows age-appropriate wear to the seat bolsters from regular use but remains free of tears or cracks. Red ambient lighting accents run through the door cards and centre console, and the AMG-embossed sport seats include AIRSCARF neck-level heating for comfortable top-down driving. The Harman Kardon premium audio system and COMAND infotainment with satellite navigation are both operational.
The AMG-specific 10-spoke matte black alloy wheels with polished lip carry Pirelli P Zero tyres with low remaining tread across all four corners. Cross-drilled brake rotors and AMG-branded calipers are fitted. The engine bay is tidy with no obvious leaks and the AMG hand-built plaque is clearly visible. An aftermarket Panamericana GT-style front grille has been fitted in place of the original AMG unit. Two catalytic converters are present loose in the boot, indicating they have been removed from the exhaust system. Service history is documented at an authorised Mercedes-Benz dealer (F.W. Graunke, Ferntree Gully VIC) with records to at least 191,963km including spark plugs, brake pads, and fluid changes. Owner's manual and service booklet are included.
