The JZA80 Supra needs no defence. Toyota's 2JZ-GTE powered GT coupe has been among the most celebrated Japanese performance cars ever built, and the market has made its position very clear for years. This 1995 Series 2 conversion RZ has been built with intent: full single turbo conversion, R154 5-speed manual swap, and a respray in factory IAI anthracite grey. It is a driver's spec build, not a show car, and the price reflects that.
The factory build plate confirms everything. JZA80 chassis, 2JZ-GTE 2,997cc engine, Toyota colour code 199 Anthracite Grey. VIN is consistent. The compliance plate confirms import by Version One Autoimports and Australian compliance in June 2007. The odometer reads 236,414 km. The 2JZ-GTE is famously long-lived and the mileage, while real, should not deter anyone who understands this engine platform.
Under the bonnet, the single turbo conversion is the headline piece. The factory sequential twin-turbo setup is gone, replaced with a large-frame single turbocharger on an aftermarket tubular exhaust manifold. Intercooler plumbing runs through the bay in large-diameter aluminium hard pipe with blue silicone couplers, consistent with a front-mount setup. An aftermarket blow-off valve in blue housing sits on the intake piping. The engine bay is at a working driver's level of presentation, clean and functional, with light use grime consistent with a car that gets used.
The original A340E 4-speed automatic is out. In its place is an R154 5-speed manual, the robust unit originally fitted to the MKIII Supra turbo and a well-supported swap on this platform. A TRD 320 km/h speedometer replaces the factory 180 km/h unit in the binnacle. That tells you where this build is pointed.
The IAI anthracite grey respray presents well. Paint is consistent with good gloss and strong metallic depth. The factory rear wing is present, body-coloured, properly mounted, no sag or cracks. A subtle aftermarket front lip runs along the lower edge of the front bumper. The Supra badge has been removed from the rear. A single large-diameter exhaust tip exits driver's side, consistent with the single turbo conversion. Aftermarket 5-spoke deep-dish alloys with polished lips on all four corners, low-profile performance rubber with adequate tread. Gold brake calipers visible through the rear spokes. The car sits mildly lower than factory on what appears to be aftermarket suspension.
Inside, the factory RZ black cloth interior is in place. The front bucket seats show honest wear consistent with the kilometres, bolsters compressed and fabric smoothed in the main seating area, but no rips or tears. The rear bench is reasonable with minor creasing. The carpets need attention. Soiling is visible in the driver's footwell and there are no floor mats in place. A detail and shampoo will sort it. A Sony touchscreen head unit sits in the factory radio slot. The original automatic climate control panel remains in place. The steering wheel is factory with the Toyota SRS airbag centre, rim showing wear at nine and three o'clock, the honest mark of a car that has been driven.
