<b>Description</b><br>
A departure from ISHISHI's architectural cityscapes, this work is a tightly focused abstract composition built around a central nautilus or ammonite-like spiral. The spiral is surrounded by interlocking biomechanical elements: gear-like ridged forms, Celtic-style interlace knotwork at the top, flowing baroque scroll and volute forms, radiating fan and sunburst patterns, small spheres, and fine antenna-like projections. The result is part fossil, part clockwork, part architectural ornament.<br><br>
The work is executed in a predominantly monochromatic palette of greys, blacks and whites with subtle warm brown/sepia and pinkish accents. The support is canvas-textured paper with a visible weave, which adds a distinctive surface quality to the work. The composition floats on a white ground. Small pin holes at the top corners indicate prior display. Signed "ISHISHI" in reddish-brown at lower right. Verso: "©2016".<br><br>
