Distilled on 7 July 2006 and matured for almost twelve years before bottling on 31 March 2018, this remarkable whisky was drawn exclusively from Barrel TD0119, producing just 321 bottles worldwide. Reserved only for casks that demonstrate extraordinary quality and individuality, the Special Cask Edition series showcases whiskies that fall outside Sullivan's Cove's traditional French Oak and American Oak expressions. Each green-labelled release is selected for its unique character and exceptional tasting panel scores, ensuring that no two Special Cask bottlings are ever the same. Barrel TD0119 was bottled at a natural 52.3% ABV, delivering an elegant balance of richness, texture and complexity that has earned widespread acclaim, including Gold Medal honours at the 2019 World Whiskies Awards.
The nose is beautifully layered with aromas of apricot jam, ripe nectarines, baked apple, buttery caramel and toasted malt, complemented by delicate spice and subtle earthy nuances. The palate is luxuriously creamy and full-bodied, revealing flavours of Maltesers, dried apricot, plum dusted with cocoa, chewy caramel, dried fig and clove, balanced by a refreshing touch of sea salt. The finish is long, refined and wonderfully complex, lingering with notes of dulce de leche, bread-and-butter pudding, toasted marshmallow, cocoa and gentle pepper spice, leaving a lasting impression of elegance and finesse.
