Description

A statement mixed-media assemblage that reads as much sculptural as it does painted. The composition centres on a three-dimensional circular disc painted with swirling concentric strokes suggesting a cosmic eye or vortex, surrounded by five to six angular arrow and chevron shapes cut from wood and physically attached in relief, pointing inward toward the centre. Two sweeping arcs converge on the central motif: a coral-red arc descending from the top and a golden-orange arc rising from the bottom, set against a mottled deep lavender and periwinkle blue background achieved through sponged and stippled acrylic.


The wooden arrow elements project from the panel surface and show rough, weathered texture with layered paint in olive, ochre, rust, and brown. The overall aesthetic has a tribal or pre-Columbian quality. The piece is framed in a flat purple-painted wooden frame with a narrow red inner liner that sets off the composition. The wood panel reverse is solid birch-grain plywood with wire hanging hardware fitted and ready to hang. An original, singular piece with real visual presence at 56cm x 70cm.

Condition

Condition is good overall. Paint surface intact with no obvious cracks or flaking. All raised wooden elements appear firmly attached. Frame shows minor wear at corners. Some intentional distressing visible on the wooden relief elements.
