NINE 400 MILLION YEAR OLD DEVONIAN AGE ORTHOCERAS FOSSILS FROM MOROCCO

This Orthoceras Fossil Is Devonian In Age And Just Under 400 Million Years Old. It Is Embedded In Marble And Was Dug In A Quarry In Morocco.

When Alive This Creature Had A Head Similar To A Squid (Although Is Not Related). It Would Have Looked Like A Squid With A Long Skinny Ice Cream Cone Shape Shell. The Flesh Of Course Would Have Decomposed And All We Are Left With Is The Shell. They Hunted In Swarms Of Thousands And Even Top Predators Got Out Of The Way When The Swarm Was Coming.
