Carved hardwood mask with natural ochre and charcoal pigment, featuring finely incised spiral designs and original fibre adornments. Originating from the Middle Sepik River region, such masks were used in ceremonial dances and initiation rituals to invoke ancestral spirits. A visually captivating and well-preserved example of traditional Sepik craftsmanship.
