Description:

COLLECTION OF TWO DOZEN EARLY 1920S AUSTRIA NOTGELD EMERGENCY MONEY BANKNOTES

In The Early 1920S In Germany There Was A Major Shortage Of Metal (And Many Other Things) And Coins Became
Scarce. There Wasn'T Enough Coins Around For Normal Commerce. So A Solution Was That Many Cities Issued
Low Denomination Banknotes Called Notgeld (Meaning Emergency Money). They Were Issued Before The Massive
Inflation Era That Came A Year Or Two Later That Rendered The Notgeld'S Basically Worthless. They Were Often Very
Colourful And Today Are Highly Collectable.
